A friend asked me to repair a 1997 Mazda 323 Protege with the flashing transmission 'Hold' light problem last month. The cause was a failed "Turbine Speed Sensor" on the top of the automatic transmission under the air intake chute. The 323 transmission is especially effected by the engine running too cool.
